Lost Wax Batik Silk Kimono Jacket

A circa 1970s Japanese fine silk Kimono jacket. It has an elegant Wisteria flower detail on the lining (the Kimono is pictured reversed with the lining on the outside). Done with a lost wax technique, the floral details would have been hand painted onto the silk with wax and then removed once the fabric had been dyed to leave a 'negative' white pattern.  A wonderful example of Japanese textile art.
