Layla Antique Kimono Jacket

An antique circa 1940s Japanese fine silk Kimono jacket. It's made from vibrant purple meisen silk with an abstract floral pattern. To make meisen fabric, threads are first loosely woven and then dyed using stencils. The warp or the weft threads may be discarded at this point and new ones are woven in to create the initial patterns.
The Kimono is fully lined with silk and the sleeves have a separate vermillion red silk lining. The lining also has subtly handpainted bird motives near the sleeves.
